This week on the PDR Marketing Minute Podcast, Gene discusses his clients shopping habits. He talks about how he had his website up years ago and then started running AdWords ads when a hail storm came through the area. After a year of running ads and pushing out blog posts and other SEO tricks, he found his website at the top of the first page of Google.

He believed that he didn’t need to pay Google for ads to retain his number one spot. About a year later, he was at a client’s house when the client told him that he had a difficult time getting to him. Gene explains that he doesn’t pay for the ads on Google so he wouldn’t be there but showed the client that his company was there on Google Places. In the organic results, Gene explains to his client that he had the top two spots on the listing. The client still told Gene that he had had a tough time finding him.

Gene goes on to say that if you want continuous business, you need to make it easier for customers to reach out to you. Even though the ideal clients will find you, leave reviews, and watch the videos, there are a lot of clients that require a little bit of help to find you. Gene ends the episode by saying that you should be running ads no matter what. Even if you have the top position, your potential clients need to know about you.
