On this week’s episode, Gene continues with the retail PDR business checklist and discusses the value of Yelp. Even though most people don’t like Yelp, Google does and you should have a Yelp page and get reviews on it. Gene explains to open an account, you should visit BIZ.YELP.COM and follow the instructions for creating a page. An important tip that Gene passes on is that all your information, including name, website, phone number, and address, should be the same across all social media platforms.

He goes on to say that Yelp might call you after setting up your account to talk you into advertising but advises against it and encourages you to start organically. Google ranks Yelp as one of the best review websites and is a great way for people to find your business. Gene explains that Yelp lets potential customers know about you and allows them to get in touch with you.

When you’re setting up your profile, Gene says you should pay attention to the options given. For starters, you should check and double check your name, address, phone number, and website. Next, you should choose your categories in a way that customers can instantly understand what you specialize in. You should also carefully choose the service areas you wish to operate in. Next, mention your business hours so customers know when they can visit you. Your history and specialty are great ways to let people know more about you and what you can offer them. There is also a “Meet The Business Owner” section which lets potential customers know about the people working in the business.
