In the PDR Marketing Minute Podcast this week, Gene continues with the checklist for Basic Marketing Needs. Last week’s episode was all about the importance of creating a website for your business. Today, Gene discusses the second most important thing which is setting up a Google My Business listing account.
Setting it up is absolutely free and offers you a listing on Google for your business. It does, however, involve a bit of a setting up process. To begin, you must visit business.google.com and sign up. After signing up, you will receive a physical card with a numbered code inside. The code activates your listing. For those who do have a retail location, the card gets delivered to the location. For mobile services, like Gene’s, Google sends the card to a home address. Once received, you are required to enter the 5-6 digit code into the Google My Business website. For mobile services, you must check the checkbox which reads “I Provide Goods and Services At My Customers Location”. This process takes away the pin which would have been placed on your home in Google Maps and places it in your zip code with a well defined service area.
Gene goes on to discuss the rest of the checklist which requires confirmation of whether your website is a listed one. Another important thing to check is the NAP or Name, Address, and Phone Number. This information should be consistent with the information on your website. The business hours should also be mentioned because Google has recently started sending out emails before holidays which allow business owners to login and adjust their hours during holidays. You can even post to your Google My Business listing which lets your customers see newer content regularly.
Gene ends the episode by talking about the Advanced Skills Seminar which takes place in January in Orlando. He encourages listeners to sign up at PDRCollege.com for a great opportunity to make new friends and business contacts, and experience networking like never before. You can even sign up to Gene’s Review System by signing up to his email list at PDRMarketingMinute.com.
