This week on the PDR Marketing Minute Podcast, Gene completes the series on Basic Marketing Needs which continues from last week. He discusses the final piece which is paid traffic and how to use it in your business. He explains that your business will not instantly land up on the first page of Google but requires great content and proper SEO work to climb the rankings. While this is a steady process, Gene feels that paid ads help you get quicker results and can get you in front of your competitors in no time.
The first paid method is through AdWords which is keyword based and can get your business or website in the first page quite fast. As long as you have a good headline and a link to a specific page in your website, you will see your business climbing through the ranks. He further talks about the average cost of a decent PDR campaign on AdWords is about $300 a month which more competitive markets demand a higher budget. With a campaign like this, you should see a rather good amount of leads and calls for your business. The important thing to remember here is to get rid of all the negative keywords such as “cheap dent repair” as they will drop your ranking significantly.
Although Google is the primary search engine, Yahoo and Bing are also great options to postpaid ads. They account for about 20% of the market share which is quite a large market. Also, Gene talks about getting your paid ads out to people in your market or region only. While Google’s default setting is to spread the ads throughout the country, you can pin your location to find a more local market. The other method to generate paid traffic is through Facebook. It is a great way to let people know about your business and teach them about the services you offer.
Gene goes on to recap the basic general marketing needs that will help your business grow. He talks about having a well-designed website, a Google My Business listing, a Yelp account, a YouTube channel, a Facebook page, and proper paid search.
