This week on the PDR Marketing Minute, Gene discusses some interesting tips and tricks to help you deal with reviews on Yelp. It is a great way to get organic reviews and is definitely one of the best ways to market your business. Unfortunately, if you are an inactive Yelp user, the reviews on it get taken down.

Gene kicks off his tips by telling listeners to talk to their customers. Find out whether your customers are active Yelp users and talk to them about their repair. Gene says rather than asking them for a review, you should ask the customer to share their experience. He goes on to say that when you do get a positive review, you should reply to it privately and quickly. If you find a review from a customer who doesn’t use Yelp frequently, send them a friend request from your personal account.

Under a customer’s profile picture, you will notice three icons which tell you about the person. Check for the number of friends they have or the number of reviews they have left. Either one will help your review stick. Gene then advises listeners to build rapports with customers who don’t use Yelp a lot. You should speak to them and ask them to leave reviews on other businesses to get their reviews validated by Yelp.

Lastly, Gene talks about how you should share your Yelp reviews on Facebook, Twitter, and other sources. This will help Yelp get backlinks into its website and help your reviews stick.
