What’s the difference between sales and marketing?
Essentially they are one and the same but they do have their differences. While marketing refers to basically everything you can do up until the customer reaches out to you, sales involves everything after that initial contact.
Both marketing and sales go hand in hand but are completely separate pieces. In fact, if marketing is done really well, it eliminates the process of sales completely. For example, if you create great content on your website, upload informational videos on YouTube, or get positive reviews online, people will approach you without you having to convince them to choose you.
This makes marketing far more important than sales as without it, you will not have customers to sell to. So, to sum up, sales is everything before customers make contact whereas marketing is everything after the customer makes contact.
